Reach All of Your Therapy and Fitness Goals
Advanced Spinal Care of Lakeland offers an extensive program for patients seeking rehabilitation/physical therapy. Facilitation of these goals is achieved through engaging in the motion of tissue under the direction of Dr. Michael Majette. A two part program, the therapy phase will focus on working to reduce chronic inflammation and pain cycles, reduce muscle spasms, improve range of motion, strength and endurance, eliminate scar tissue formations and rehabilitate/restore biomechanical function.
PHASE 1: Physical Therapy
Prior to beginning the physical therapy portion of the program, each patient will undergo an evaluation with Dr. Majette to develop a custom tailored protocol to fit their individual needs. This phase of the program starts gradually with active stretching and light resistance exercises and progresses to more functional training. Once the patient has been reevaluated and cleared from therapy, typically after 6 weeks, the fitness phase of the program begins.
PHASE 2: Fitness Therapy
The object of this stage is to allow patients to maintain what they've regained during therapy and reach fitness goals. Any prolonged inactivity and restricted motion on the body causes stiffness and weakened joints. Without exercise therapy, the body tends to be weaker, stiffer, hypersensitive and may experience episodes of flare-ups of existing injuries. The fitness program is designed to engage the whole body in functional training instead of isolation of muscle groups.
Exercise therapy consists of two to three 30 minute sessions per week in a one on one setting. Each work out session begins with a warm-up, main workout, abs work and is finished with stretching.
